SD…to feed the soul!
Welcome to another monthly podcast of SoundDesigners. This time we have a dutch lady behind the decks, full of potencial and with a mix made only with vinyl. No doubt that gives elevation and bring it to another level. That’s what we like right?!
Ok, her name is Cathy and she is from Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Everytime we invite artists for our podcast, we ask for a piece of their story. Cathy send to us this description and we truly appreciate that:
I’m a DJ currently living in the Eindhoven area. That’s the southern part of the Netherlands. (in June i’m moving to Berlin)
My first contact with dj ‘ing was when i worked in a bar. I practiced on cd players there. After a while i had played in a really small venue’s but it wasn’t quite what i imagined. I always had huge respect for Dj’s who played vinyl and for me that is what i truly aspired.
So eventually i stopped playing.
The fire didn’t stop burning and a trip to Berlin kickstarted my vinyl addiction, but i wasn’t DJing with vinyl right from the start, it took a while to finally take the next step and start to mix my records together.
It wasn’t till June of 2015 i felt confident enough to take my mixes public. Soon after that, i caught the attention of the local club scene and started to play in clubs on a regular basis.
If you ask me what kind of music that i’m into i can say it shifts between a wide variety of house and techno. Style doesn’t matter, over all my sound can be described as deep, atmospheric and moody. In my selection i try to find a balance and i want to create a story.
The only thing i can say about my path in music is this: i keep on doing what i do, hunting for those ‘special’ records and i want to finetune my mixing techique. Producing is my next ambition, but not right now.
So, let’s put play on the decks and just get to that magic place! By the way, we love this podcast, full of deep power moody textures and with balance achieved!
See you next time,

After some time without the podcast’s edition, we return back again with new rotations. No, the SD is not over, simply is a part-time phase due to the higher order of events.
May is the month that now begins, and nothing better than an inspiration for itself.
The artist that we present this month, is from Potenza, Italy, with Ocralab alter-ego. Besides working on dj format, he is also a producer within the Ambient / Dubtechno spectrum.
For us, developing a very successful work, marking with charisma in the sonic platform. No doubt that Ocralab can carry you to the other side. Nothing better than you to confirm. I leave you with our friend Rocco Biscione.
